Action

Tartan utilized client interviews, community research, and underwriting data to build a compelling presentation on the risk profile of the community.  This profile was presented to key underwriters through conference calls, traditional applications, and detailed spreadsheets.



Results

The negotiation process created competition among multiple underwriting companies, resulting in a 28% reduction in total premium and enhanced coverage terms, despite the community being located in a "high-risk" area.


Commentary

Insurance companies will be more aggressive when they are presented with an accurate, detailed representation of the risk.  Often, this means providing context to data points along with information that isn't captured in traditional applications.  Spending the time to learn about the communities and building an effective presentation for the market yields better results.
